Retailers at Gitex Shopper 2015 expecting double-digit growth
Dubai — Power retailers expect good double-digit growth in sales during the third edition of Gitex Shopper Spring 2015 and investing more into bundles and promotion on latest products this year.
Gitex Shopper is very well established brand and growing year on year in terms of new products, quality buyers, sales and investment, they told Khlaeej Times on the first day of Gitex Shopper.
Emax, the largest electronics retailer in the Middle East, part of Landmark Group, has doubled its presence at the Gitex Shopper to occupy over 1,200sqm retail area, in a clear indication of the importance of this industry event for the turnout of the leading tech retailer.
“I am expecting 30 per cent year-on-year growth. In terms of spending, it will be much more than last year as we have expanded our exhibition area. We are the biggest in this show,” Emax chief executive officer Neelesh Bhatnagar told this scribe.
Emax has invested a lot of money and the company expects good sales returns, Bhatnagar added.
Sharaf DG chief executive officer Nilesh Khalkho said: “It’s growing fast and we expect to grow at least 25 per cent compared to last year in terms of sales.”
Nadeem Khanzadah, head of retail, Jumbo Electronics, said: “Our forecast for this year is positive, with a 10-15 per cent expected growth in sales revenue compared to last year.”
In terms of spending growth, the consumer electronics category remains one of the strongest in the region, Khanzadah said: “As innovations keep up the momentum in the industry and consumers in the Middle East readily embrace them, we can expect even more success for Gitex Shopper in the years to come.”
Mahesh Chotrani, assistant vice-president, Jacky’s Electronics, said that the company has invested 35 per cent more funds compared to last year’s spring edition. “The investment is required to bring some excitement in the show. So the investment is more for the experience. We also expect good growth figures for sales.”
Sean Connor, general manager of Plug Ins, said: “The Spring edition is going very well and we expect around 15 per cent growth over last year.”
Khanzadah said: “We’re expecting a wave of excited shoppers on the lookout for new launches such as the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge, which are available for pre-orders at Gitex Shopper Spring 2015. The S6 Edge’s innovative display is bound to stir some interest. Highly anticipated products like the HTC One M9 and latest range of MacBooks are also likely do well.”
Bhatnagar said: “We expect sales of smartphones, tablets and UHD panels to take off in this Gitex, followed by cameras and laptops. As has always been the case, our professional and highly-trained salespeople will be there to enhance the consumers’ shopping experience and guide them to make informed decisions on the gadgets they should buy.”
Connor said Plug Ins is proud to continue our participation at the Gitex Spring Shopper. This is likely to be an interesting year with the industry at the peak of innovative marketing.
“We are also excited about the new range of phones, exclusive to Plug Ins, making their first ever GITEX appearance. This range has consistently led our sales charts for the last few weeks and we expect to see similar demand during the Shopper exhibition.”
