Finnish retailer Marimekko to make Dubai debut
Finnish retailer Marimekko in partnership with BinHendi Enterprises will launch its first outlet in Dubai making a Middle East debut, with plans to roll out eight stores in the Middle East by the end of 2018.
The first Marimekko store will come up at Boxpark, the new shopping mall in the Jumeirah district followed by the second at The Dubai Mall. After the UAE store openings Marimekko plans to enter Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
“The UAE is an attractive market for us, well-known for its excellent shopping opportunities. The region is reputed for its high local purchasing power,” says Marimekko chief strategy officer Päivi Lonka. “Dubai is particularly interesting because it is a busy shopping destination for tourists, attracting visitors from around the world. Hence, the brand's recognition factor can be cultivated here on a very broad scale.”
Marimekko is renowned for its original prints and colours, its product portfolio including high-quality clothing, bags and accessories as well as home décor items ranging from textiles to tableware. The brand promises to offer a good variety to the UAE market.
