Luxury shopping in Qatar is in for a boost, as five more malls are soon to be built in Doha, the German Press Agency DPA said in a special travel report.

"The Mall of Qatar is due to open this autumn with more than 500 shops, according to Qatar tourism officials," the news agency said. "The Northgate Mall follows with 100,000 square metres of shopping area for visitors at the end of the year," it said.

"The Tawar Mall is also expected to open in 2015 with a roof terrace, complete with an oriental garden.

"Next year will see the completion of the biggest shopping centre in Qatar, the Doha Festival City, while another mall is being planned for downtown Doha. All of the shopping centres will specialise in luxury and designer-brand shops."
