Jumeirah Hotels eyeing expansion in Europe

Dubai-based Jumeirah Hotels is eyeing expansion in Europe.

Jumeirah, which operates nine luxury properties in Europe, is planning o open two four-star Venu properties and two more Jumeirah hotels by the end of 2017.

One of the Venu properties could come as early as next year.

“There is a demand for cost-effective properties from investors as luxury hotels are investment heavy,” said Doris Greif, the regional vice president in Europe for Jumeirah and general manager of Jumeirah Frankfurt.

The Venu properties in Europe would have between 150 to 200 rooms, she said.

The expansion of the Jumeirah brand in Europe comes on the back of an increase in demand from key markets such as Middle East and also North America as the dollar gets stronger. The dollar traded near a 12-year high against the euro last month.

“Between July and September our Frankfurt and London properties are fully booked,” Ms Greif said.

In the UAE, the company expects to open its first Venu property in the UAE on Bluewaters Island off Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline.

“There are five Venu properties under construction in the UAE,” Ms Greif said. That includes the Bluewaters Island hotel.

The 300-room hotel will also have 119 serviced apartments branded as Venu Living, and is expected to open in 2017.
