Parcels in UAE sent straight to your phone

A new app to relieve shipping stress has been launched in the UAE. The Silicon Valley-funded app, Fetchr can be used by both individuals and businesses to send and receive parcels using the phone’s GPS co-ordinates.

Fetchr’s co-founder, Idriss Al Rifai, says that customers wanting to send a package can simply download the Fetchr delivery app on the App Store, snap a picture of the item through the app and choose a pick-up time of their convenience.

“As an app, we do not require to know the address of the receiver, you just simply provide the mobile number. A driver is then dispatched at the scheduled time to the phone’s location, and can be tracked in real time”, he explains.

Once the parcel is safely delivered, the sender receives a notification.

The app doesn’t yet offer food delivery, but Al Rifai says that they will be testing out different features and services as they scale up.

Fetchr currently operates in the UAE, however, the firm’s expansion plan is to roll out the app out across the GCC.
