Nakheel has agreed a deal with Al Tayer Group to bring in a group of the UAE conglomerate’s retail brands into its new Al Khail Avenue shopping mall in Dubai.
The developer said the deal will see Al Tayer Group take 54,000 sq ft of space in the new 1.2 million sq ft mall. Al Tayer Group will use the space to take units for lifestyle and hospitality brands including Gap, Mamas and Papas, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, Areej, Caffe Nero and Ocean Basket.
Al Khail Avenue is being built on Al Khail Road on the eastern edge of Nakheel’s Jumeirah Village Triangle Community.
The mall will have 350 shops, a multi-screen cinema, cafes and space for up to 4,400 cars. It is due to open in 2018.
Nakheel has said that almost 60 per cent of the space available at Al Khail Avenue has already been pre-let. Reel Cinemas will operate the 14-screen complex and other tenants include Waitrose, Home Centre, Emax and Centrepoint.
Nakheel retail director Omar Khoory said: “Our partnership with Al Tayer Group highlights the growing appetite — from both the retail industry and consumers — for retail space in this popular, fast-growing area of Dubai.”
Nakheel currently has more than 11 million sq ft of leasable retail space under development to add to the 2.5 million sq ft already in operation at Ibn Battuta Mall and Dragon Mart.
