Revealed: Inside Dubai’s first floating hotel
Dubai-There have some been some pretty interesting places to sleep in Dubai, but this little-known accommodation is one perhaps more affordable for the average person.
Stars such as Khloe Kardashian have stayed in Atlantis The Palm’s underwater suite, and of course there is the Burj Al Arab’s over-the-top Royal Suite.
However the Hotel Jawhara Marines Floating Suite is definitely something that would put the bizarre factor into a UAE stay.
Described as ‘cosy’, guests arrive there by sailing for five minutes from Al Mamzar Beach Park, and get to enjoy the benefits of a floating terrace too.
Six people can stay in Topaz, the three-bedroom suite on a half-board basis, for AED4,000 ($1,089) which is rather a bargain but don’t expect conditions as plush as Dubai’s top Jumeirah hotels.
You will however get use of a kitchen, living room and dining area, flat-screen TV and full air-conditioning. Plus the bigger of the two suites has an indoor fishing area in the middle of the entrance.
While the smaller suite Zomuroda doesn’t have this cool feature, both suites do have spiralling stairs which lead to an outdoor seating area. Dining choices on the ‘boatel’ include Arabic, International and Seafood offerings as well as a mini-bar with drinks and snack in room.
The property which has been on Booking.com since June 2012, is only a 20-minute drive to Deira City Centre Mall and a 25-minute ride to the airport.
A booking note states that unmarried couples are not allowed to stay in the hotel, and guests may be asked to present a marriage certificate at check-in. Due to Sharia Law, alcohol is also not permitted on the property.
