Shaikh Hamdan's initiative will provide free screenings, treatment for oral diseases

Dubai: A one-year initiative to improve the health of workers and provide them with the best health and social services was launched on Monday.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, launched the initiative to provide free screening and necessary treatment for oral and dental diseases of 2,000 workers.

The initiative is a humanitarian one that aims to spread awareness about the health of workers and educate them on oral diseases.

Saif Bin Markhan Al Katbi, Director-General of the Crown Prince’s Office, said that Shaikh Hamdan will bear the cost of the screenings and necessary treatment for oral and dental diseases of 2,000 workers in the first phase, which will start next week and last until the end of this year.

Shaikh Hamdan instructed the Dubai Dental Clinic at the Hamdan Bin Mohammad College of Dental Medicine to conduct the necessary screenings and determine the treatment required for workers with dental and oral diseases.

Raising awareness

The clinic will also carry out educational campaigns and visits to the targeted segments to identify the types of health problems workers suffer from. Shaikh Hamdan also instructed all local authorities to cooperate with the initiative and provide the necessary facilities to ensure the smooth progress of the initiative.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about oral diseases, which can be dangerous if not treated early. The initiative will provide workers with the required clinical examinations and treatment that can contribute to improving public health among this key segment.

“Earlier in May, we marked Labour Day in Dubai to mark this occasion that focuses on a key sector in a non-traditional way, in a way that is practically beneficial in nature and not simply restricted to words and statements,” said Shaikh Hamdan. “Therefore, we have decided to launch a health initiative that can directly benefit all workers and will have a positive impact on their health,” he added.

Shaikh Hamdan stressed that the UAE pays great attention to the labour sector, whose members constitute a large segment of the community. He praised the directives of the wise leadership to provide the best services and care for labourers to ensure that they live a dignified life.

He called on private institutions to give attention and support for such initiatives, particularly those launched for workers, to make them feel secure and loyal. This initiative will encourage workers to be more productive and professional in their work.
